There are many transitions underway for years and accelerated by the pandemic. The one that has to do with the mobility and transport is among the most important because it concerns both technological aspects (the role of batteries for electric vehicles it is key, as we have explained to you), and of a general nature, with the smart city is new lifestyles which gradually establish themselves. On the occasion of the Festival del Futuro, scheduled from 18 to 20 November in Verona and in streaming (here the program), we are recounting the various panels with the voices of the protagonists, i.e. those speakers who will give all the necessary contributions to make us understand more about the macro trends of our age. The new paradigms of sustainable mobility is one of these, scheduled for Friday 19 at 11. We interviewed Gabriel Grea, Research fellow at Bocconi University and chairman of the session.

Sustainable mobility: the certainty of the electric

There transition ecological request to Italy and Europe also travels on means electricalwhether they are cars, scooters or trucks. «Today it is an irreplaceable trend - explained Grea -. The electric relies on mature technologies and continuous improvements. Gradually, the prices of more expensive parts, such as batteries, will also go down. There are challenges related to the decarbonisation of the production and consumption process ». Optimism towards the future, however, must deal with a market where the old continent has yet to understand what part to play in a context where the China (technology leader) and the States United (Tesla leads the market).

The role of China and the opportunity for Europe

«This is true - he commented Grea - China has invested and still invests in primary resources, such as rare earths. Most of the batteries that are used today for the automotive sector come from there. An important strategic game is being played on the issue of mobility for Europe, which is in any case investing with the Next Generation Eu and other initiatives such as Battery Allaiance to become an important player and guide companies towards the transition ».

In the trend of mobility sustainable there is also room for technologies still in the pioneering phase such as guide autonomous and drones? «Like all innovations potentially disruptive they must be guided and encouraged so that they contribute to sustainable models. At the Festival of the Future we will also talk about technological systems to improve the safety of mobility ».
